Love Matters Naija is the brainchild of Love Matters Africa, a digital platform where young adults across the continent discuss sexuality and sexual health. Focused on providing blush-free information, Love Matters Africa already reaches 1.4 million young people in Kenya and Rwanda.

Now managed by Media Health and Rights Initiative of Nigeria, Love Matters Naija aims to replicate this success in Nigeria. The platform creates a safe, inclusive space where young Nigerians can access accurate information and openly discuss love, relationships, and sexual health. It uses engaging content, interactive discussions, and community-driven stories to help young people make informed choices about their bodies and relationships in a culturally relevant way.

According to a press statement from Love Matters Naija, “we are fast growing in Nigeria at over 200,000 followers since our launch in June 2018.” The platform aims to “engage young people on sexual reproductive health and rights (SRHR) issues without judgement.” It also offers safe spaces to ask questions, seek advice, and access services. Young Nigerians can also interact with a growing team of writers, bloggers, editors, SRHR counsellors, and content creators.

The platform will be officially launched in Lagos, Nigeria, on 27 March 2019. The event will feature top celebrities and bloggers, as well as partner organisations in the SRHR field. Nigerian musician Ice Prince, cartoonist Ugojese, and musician Banké are set to attend and perform.

The press release added that “Love Matters Naija seeks to be the go-to platform for sexual reproductive health and rights among Nigerian youths through innovative, fresh and engaging online media.”

With active conversations already happening on its Facebook page, LM Naija has firmly established its presence in Nigeria.
